Selmer Super Action 80 Series I Tenor Saxophone
This horn is a Series I, which has a darker, more complex tone than the Series II’s and III’s do. The Series I’s also have great build quality, employing real pivot screws (not spring loaded ones like the more recent Selmers). This horn has some wear in the lacquer from being played, because it plays well. No dings or dents but the finish does have wear and shows patina.
The great thing about these horns is that the dark core tone is ideal for serious saxophone study/lessons/college and combines well with a brighter jazz mouthpiece to give you a nice jazz tone as well.
Selmer Paris introduced the Super Action 80 series in 1980, with full production on the new model coming in 1981. In their official releases, they made sure to announce that the horn was more similar to the Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone than the Selmer VII tenor.
This sax is offered with the original carry case, which is in very rough condition
It also does include a small soft bag that holds the neck and mouth piece
This saxophone would need some sevicing and possibly minor repairs
We did notice some of the pads do not close tightly all the way and do shows signs of gaps
We have tried our best to photograph and mention any issues we have noticed, so please see photos and ask any questions you may have
