This is a rare little figurine 'Inuit/Eskimo Boy' by Carl Martin-Hansen (1877-1941) who designed beautiful overglazed regional figurines from Denmark, the Faeroe Islands and Greenland. He was originally from Kolding in Jutland, but came to Copenhagen as a very young man, where he became an apprentice by the decoration sculptor H. Chr. Petersen and afterwards a pupil at Vermehren's painter's school and finally at the Academy of Arts in 1897. Travelling was made possible through scholarships and he studied in both Germany, Italy and France. He exhibited many places and received a gold medal at the World Fair in Bruxelles in 1910. The piece is stamped with the Juliana Maria Mark and has the reference number 12419. These are rare porcelain figures and very collectable.
**There is a chip on one of the yellow flowers, and one one the pink flower next to it. Please see photos as they are part of the description of this item.**
