PICTOU HARBOUR, NOVA SCOTIA (1935) by WALLACE R. MACASKILL F.P.S.A. (1890-1956)

W.R. MacAskill was one of the first Canadian photographers to achieve distinction in international salons where his work was not only admired for its technical excellence but for the truth of its statements about men at sea. One of his photographs of the Bluenose became the subject of a commemorative postage stamp issued in 1929, and in 1937 another was used on the Canadian ten cent piece, where it still appears to this day.

The picture with frame measures 12-3/4" x 10-3/4"

The wooden frame does show some signs of damage as well as possible discoloration in the blue and gold inner borders (see photos)
