This preowned VTG ceramic mug is decorated with images in black and gold of Old Fort Henry. It is free from chips or cracks and measures 3 5/8 in (9cm) tall and 3 in (8cm) wide across its opening.
Fort Henry was built from 1832 to 1837 to replace a fort from the War of 1812.
The Fort protected the naval dockyard at Point Frederick, the entrance of the Rideau Canal, the town of Kingston, and the supply route for Montreal, Ottawa and Western Canada.
Fort Henry housed The British Army until 1870 when Queen Victoria pulled the troops from Canada. Afterwards, "A" Battery, School of Gunnery then by "B" Battery resided in the Fort until 1891.
Fort Henry was used as an internment camp for political prisoners during WW I. - The fort received a restoration from 1936
